Rachel Tidd Counselling
I am an empathic, skilled and experienced Integrative Counsellor. I offer a warm, open and secure environment to explore your needs. It is from this open space that growth, understanding and change can flourish. I believe that the therapeutic alliance is vital to the best outcomes in therapy. Every person is different and each individual requires time and attention to explore their needs and potential.
Before becoming a Counsellor, I was an experienced Senior Nurse in Women and Child Health. My Nursing background has given me a wealth of experience on which to draw on. I am a mother of two adult children. Supporting them from their childhood and teenage years to now as two young adults has been a privilege, if at times a learning process.
I work Integratively, my roots are in Humanistic, Person Centred theory, which means I am able to draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, tailoring the therapy to individual needs. I incorporate concepts based on Psychodynamic theory, Attachment Theory, Psychosynthesis, together with Mindfulness and CBT where appropriate. I have valued my own practice of yoga for several years and we sometimes incorporate simple aspects of this philosophy and work within our process. My work can involve creative elements, where appropriate, for both adults and young people, this may include visualisations and practical tools. I am also an EMDR practitioner
Open ended and time limited…
During my time as a Therapist I have worked in two GP Surgeries, a Counselling Charity, a Private Practice and at a respected Kent Grammar school, with children and young people between the ages of 11 and 18, and adults including older adults. I have also worked with University students. I have supported parents experiencing difficulties with their children. In addition, I have worked for a charity working with NHS staff during the pandemic. I work in time limited and open-ended therapy, using a range of Counselling theory and skills. I am also an EMDR practitioner.
